Projects

Think, Talk, Write Science
This project currently involves over thirty schools from across London. The project aims to increase pupils' science understanding by encouraging teachers to place a greater emphasis on developing thinking and talking skills whilst embedding greater opportunities for this into their lessons. The resulting deeper understanding of concepts and vocabulary is then developed through speaking as an expert into effective written forms of communication.

As part of the project teachers are expected to implement ideas from the CPD days in their own classroom and share their experiences at subsequent meetings.

Skills for Successful Science

In 2011/2012 Primary Science Education Consultancy gained funding from Primary Science Teaching Trust to run a project in collaboration with the Science Learning Centre London.

The pilot project involved eight schools from across London who were selected due to their committment to raising the standards of teaching and learning in science. The science coordinator took part in three days of CPD at the Science Learning Centre with twilight sessions in between. They worked with their own staff back in school through INSET and one to one support and achieved a silver or gold Primary Science Quality Mark.

This pilot project was such a success that subsequently over fifty schools have taken part in the programme.
