Sequencing Science Topics
The National Curriculum in England: science programmes of study has progression across the year-groups built into it. However, schools need to consider the sequence in which topics and their related statements are taught within each year.
This document identifies the questions that need to be considered by schools when planning the teaching of the topics and statements within any particular year-group and identifies the sequencing issues that need to be addressed. It also includes advice for schools with mixed classes of two year-groups.
