The core values that underpin our work are that children's learning is:

  • maximised when they are able to take responsibility for shaping their learning; and

  • most memorable and enjoyable when they are finding out about the world through their own exploration.

For this to happen, children need to be:

  • equipped with the skills to work scientifically that will enable them to be independent learners; and

  • provided with opportunities to make decisions for themselves.

Our role is to unlock the potential in schools and teachers to inspire their pupils about science, while also developing their confidence in teaching and assessing their children’s knowledge and skills.

We work in a number of different ways to achieve this. For more information about the skills and experience we have, see our staff biographies below.

We work with national bodies, local authorities and education partnerships, federations, academy chains and businesses to devise and implement strategies for primary science, including:

  • setting up and leading regular science subject leader meetings

  • developing and delivering annual programmes of continuing professional development (CPD)

  • devising and delivering specific projects.

For information about our current and previous projects, visit our Projects page. For information about the services we provide, visit our Advice page.

We work directly with schools providing advice and CPD tailored to their needs. For information about the CPD courses that we have developed and deliver, visit the CPD page. We also provide bespoke CPD packages and consultancy services. For further information, visit the Advice page.

Finally, our Resources page contains publications that we have developed and links to websites and other resources that schools will find useful.
